Is a rehearsal necessary?
I can manage the unexpected at your ceremony, but a rehearsal can cut the unplanned down quite a bit. If you’re having a big wedding party, if there’s music involved, if your venue has certain complexities, then yes, we absolutely recommend a rehearsal.
Your Officiant Mike can lead the rehearsal, provide a sound system and play the processionals for you and your wedding party to practice to. This is a perfect opportunity for me, your Officiant, to meet your wedding party, family, and friends.
Not every venue or location is the same. This is one of the reasons why you carefully chose the perfect spot to have your ceremony. Without a rehearsal, we cannot plan for the management of doors, music cues, aisle width, processionals, placement of signing table, recessionals, who’s got the rings, who has the licence, and finally, a perfect opportunity for your flower girl and ring bearer/security to practice.
A rehearsal puts everybody’s mind at ease, puts everybody on the same page, and reduces stress and being nervous.
In addition, if you’re having a DJ/musicians at your reception, then they do not need to be at the rehearsal or the ceremony. This allows them to set up in one location instead of two, and to focus on your reception. If you are having musicians, let me know, and we can obtain the songs for your rehearsal. Hiring musicians and/or a DJ for your rehearsal could be pricey.
It’s recommended that you have your rehearsal at least 48 hours prior to your ceremony, and secure your date with your venue, too. I would recommend booking your rehearsal as soon as you book your venue.
Investing in your rehearsal is strongly suggested. You will feel better that you did!
The following is what we can do and more:
- Set up one hour prior to rehearsal start time
- Provide a sound system (speakers on tripod, mixing console, microphones)
- Your ceremony music selections
- Practice the aisle walk
- Venue/location complexities (door management, aisle width & alignment, seating particulars, etc)
- Choreograph wedding party aisle walk
- Establish music cues
- Establish wedding party placement
- Register/License sign picture pose
- Recessional walk (or dance)
- Back up planning for inclement weather if applicable
- Prices vary with package booked
- If you need just a rehearsal, contact to inquire
Rehearsal checklist:
- Book your rehearsal as soon as you book your venue
- Check with your venue approximately 6-8 weeks prior to make sure the date is secured
- Inform your wedding party approximately 6-8 weeks prior of the rehearsal date, include the time, name/address of venue, and your phone numbers
- Consider providing lights snacks and beverages, (pizza, water, soda, etc) and make sure to include vegan/vegetarian options
- Consider inviting parents and friends for assistance and take pictures/video
- Most of all, let me, your Officiant, know of date and time!
